Choose a featured location for your tour
2 min readWhat is a featured location?
A featured location is a stop on your tour that potential customers can preview before they buy. This preview location, along with the first three locations on your tour, helps listeners understand what makes your tour special and can significantly impact their purchase decision. Listeners who preview a tour are, on average, 3.6 times more likely to buy it. They're also more satisfied with their purchase after completing the tour, because they already know what you sound like, and have a better sense of what to expect.
Tour previews
Listeners can preview the first three locations of a tour for free. These locations are automatically set up for preview and listeners can preview differently on the web and apps:
- On the web, they can click "Preview Tour" to listen to the audio, read the script, and scroll through location images
- On the app, clicking "Preview Tour" on the About screen lets them download the route and audio for the first three locations
Featured location setup
The featured location is separate from the first three preview locations. It appears prominently on your tour's listing page and is designed to showcase the most compelling part of your tour.
To set up your featured location:
- Open your publisher dashboard and scroll down to Your Tours
- Click the Distribution button next to the specific tour
- Open Featured Location
- Choose your ideal featured location from the list (this will automatically load the audio for this location as a preview)
- Add up to five images
- Click Save
Choosing the right featured location
Pick a location that:
- Has your most engaging audio — the one that best represents your storytelling style
- Is visually interesting — strong images help convince browsers to become buyers
- Gives a taste of what makes your tour unique — if your tour is about hidden histories, choose a location with a surprising reveal
- Is self-contained — the audio should make sense on its own, without context from earlier locations
