Use voucher codes to get ratings and reviews
4 min readWhen you create your first tour on VoiceMap, you will receive 10 complimentary Feedback credits. In addition to that, you receive 10 free credits everytime you publish tour. You can use these to share your tour with people who might leave you an early rating and review.
What are voucher codes and credits?
- Voucher codes are 8-character alphanumeric codes (like 1SAMPLE2). When someone enters a voucher code, they can download your tour directly in the app. Voucher codes also come in the form of links, which can be used to redeem the tour on the web.
- Each credit is valid for a single download of your tour. Every time someone uses a voucher code to download your tour, one credit is deducted from your balance. When you run out of credits, you can purchase additional credits on your publisher dashboard here.
Why early ratings and reviews matter
Ratings are becoming more important than ever before. As we introduce new features and our new explore screen, it'll be easier for customers to sort tours by ratings. We'll also display lists like Best Selling Tours that display the top-rated tours in the app.
Potential customers look at ratings and reviews when they're making a decision on whether to download a tour or not, making authentic reviews important. Encourage the people who you give your free vouchers to actually do the tour, and to both rate it and leave a comment afterwards. This is also an excellent opportunity to get feedback, particularly on whether everybody found it easy to follow your tour's directions. If some of them didn't, talk to you editor about adjusting the map or even making minor changes to the tour's audio.
How to create voucher codes
To create a voucher code, go to your voucher dashboard, scroll down to the section called Issue Vouchers and select:
- The name of the tour your new voucher can be used to redeem
- The number of unique codes you want to create (one is the easiest)
- How many possible downloads you'd like each code to allow
You can edit the voucher code later, under Your Vouchers, and you can also adjust how many downloads you've allocated to each voucher code – or delete unused vouchers completely.
When you click on the Create Vouchers button, the number of vouchers issued will update immediately, and the vouchers should appear in the list below, in the section called Your Vouchers. You can then track how many people have used the free vouchers and follow up with those who haven't done or reviewed the tour yet. Only once someone has downloaded your tour using the voucher code, will it be deducted from your credit balance.
Who to ask
Friends, family, and colleagues are the obvious starting point, especially if they live near the tour or are planning to visit. Beyond that, think about any existing audience you might have: followers on social media, a mailing list, a podcast, or a community group. If any of them are likely to be in the right place, a voucher code and a direct ask can go a long way.
Send the code with clear redemption instructions and tell people where to leave a review once they have done the tour.
