Share it on social media

Users who arrive at your tour through social media are often more likely to buy it than those from any other channel. When you and your VoiceMap tour(s) are easy to find on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube, your tours feel more personal and trustworthy, giving potential customers valuable social proof.

General guidelines

  • Stick to the platforms you know, where you already have a following. Don't create new accounts just to promote your tours.
  • Post consistently to make sure your tours stay visible.
  • Tag @voicemapapp where relevant so we can like, comment, and reshare.
  • Use relevant hashtags — combine popular ones like #audiotour and #selftour with local ones like #visitlondon or #capetown.
  • Include a link to your tour in your bio or post. Short URLs are available from your tour's distribution tab.

Content ideas for your own accounts

  • Behind the scenes — Share the process of creating your tour: recording audio, walking the route, researching stories.
  • Location highlights — Post photos or short videos from your tour's most interesting locations, with a teaser of what listeners will learn.
  • Reviews and testimonials — Share positive feedback from listeners.
  • Tour launch announcement — When your tour goes live, make it an event.
  • Seasonal content — Tie your tour to local events, seasons, or holidays.
  • Personal connection — Explain why you created the tour and what it means to you.

Submitting video content for VoiceMap's accounts

We can create professional promotional videos for your tour and post them on VoiceMap's social media accounts. We can only create these videos if you provide enough video content of your tour.

What to send

We're looking for 20-30 short clips, each lasting 15 to 30 seconds, including:

  • At least 10 shots of interesting locations on the tour. Hold the camera still for the first 10 seconds with a clear focal point, then pan, zoom, or get creative.
  • At least 3 simple walking shots, following the route, holding the camera as still as possible while moving at a steady pace.
  • At least 3 shots of the people doing the tour, either as selfies or filmed by a friend.
  • At least 4 cutaways with street scenes or panoramic views or stops for a drink or a meal or animals or close-up details.

You don't need friends to "act out" doing the tour. Just film naturally as you walk the route yourself.

General filming tips

  • Film in landscape (horizontal) orientation
  • Keep the camera as steady as possible — use both hands or a gimbal if you have one
  • Film during the golden hour (early morning or late afternoon) for the best light
  • Avoid filming in heavy rain or fog unless it's atmospheric and intentional
  • Make sure the lens is clean before filming
